What is it?
Glandular Fever is caused by infectious mononucleosis caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Human Herpes Virus 4

Who can get it?
Young people aged between 10 and 25 are most likely to get this infection, so pretty much anyone, it is especially present in your saliva. It can also be spread in blood and semen during sexual contact, blood transfusions, and organ transplantations.

What are the symptoms?
Usually you could have fever, sore throat, swollen lymph glands and extreme tiredness. Your GP can test for EBV, but there is no treatment for Glandular Fever.

How do I protect myself?
There is no vaccine for Glandular Fever.

Treatment
There is no treatment apart from steroids for control of any swelling of the throat and tonsils.
